PrésentationErik Truffaz is doing us the honour of opening the dance on 2 August, with a career spanning almost 30 years, this trumpeter’s compositions are always imbibed with the same spirit of freedom. The following evening, Marion Rampal will take us on a veritable journey; her voice is an invitation to stroll along the paths of her blues roots in the heart of New Orleans. On 5 August, Anne Pacéo is presenting her latest project, where percussion interlaces with voices to create a trip to the frontiers of jazz and pop. Lastly, the Roberto Negro quartet, recently crowned with a Victoire du Jazz for their album Dadada, will close the 2019 festival, the fantastic world of this poetic pianist and his acolytes perfectly fitting into the backdrop at Domergue.
An emblematic celebrity on the French jazz scene, this creator of unpredictable inspiration cultivates the inimitable art of melodic exploration through an eclectic discography of some twenty albums. Among them are titles that have become a reference (“Yuri’s Choice”, “Arroyo”, etc.), cult albums ("The Dawn", "Bending new corners", etc.), original collaborations (with Pierre Henry, the father of electroacoustic, Sly Johnson, the rapper Nya, the singer Rokia Traoré, etc.), crossover musical fusions (classical, jazz, electro, pop, African music, Indian sounds, etc.), all without equivalent. Classically trained, Erik Truffaz turned to jazz after discovering Miles Davis and since then has not ceased in crafting a repertoire of sumptuous originality that tells the tale of a life in song. A veritable "researcher" who carries out multiple musical experiments by ceaselessly exploring new creative territory; he is just as likely to write a musical symphony as to compose for the theatre or create graphic concerts with Enki Bilal ("Being human being"). Contrast, osmosis and fusion are the watchwords of his unequalled jazz, while he brings an acoustic sound with electro rhythms to a digital footprint. His hyper creativity and innovative melodic blends are still just as captivating in a new tour accompanied by essential partners such as Marcello Giuliani, Benoit Corboz and Arthur Hnatek.
