Présentation

Following the French President’ statement, on Monday, April 13th, we acknowledged that the postponement of the 73rd International Cannes Film Festival, initially considered for the end of June to the beginning of July, is no longer an option.

It is clearly difficult to assume that the Festival de Cannes could be held this year in its original form.

Nevertheless, since yesterday evening we have started many discussions with professionals, in France and abroad. They agree that the Festival de Cannes, an essential pillar for the film industry, must explore all contingencies allowing to support the year of Cinema by making Cannes 2020 real, in a way or another.

Professionals from the cinema industry, international stars and up-and-coming actors rub shoulders with the crowd looking for surprising pictures and encounters. Enjoy!

The Festival de Cannes has been celebrating cinema for more than 70 years. Over the years, the Association Française du Festival International du Film has been able to change whilst keeping the essence of the Festival: a passion for cinema, the discovery of new talent and the enthusiasm of festival goers and professionals from the whole world who come to contribute to the making and distribution of films.

The 73rd Festival de Cannes will take place from Tuesday, 12th May to Saturday, 23rd May 2020. It will start one day earlier than in previous years, but will run for exactly the same length of time.

The Official Selection unveiled on April 16th!

Spike Lee, President of the Jury at the 73rd Festival de Cannes.

The American director Spike Lee is to serve as President of the Jury at the next Festival de Cannes.

At 62, the filmmaker, who is also a screenwriter, actor, editor and producer, has made numerous films that have become cult objects, and he brought the questions and contentious issues of the times to contemporary cinema. But he’s never lost sight of the public, setting out to raise their awareness of his causes in film after film. Surrounded by his Jury, which will be announced in mid-April, Spike Lee will award the Palme d'or at the close of the 73rd edition, which will take place from 12 to 23 May 2020.
