In May of each year, the Festival de Cannes takes over the city and newspapers worldwide.

Professionals from the cinema industry, international stars and up-and-coming actors rub shoulders with the crowd looking for surprising pictures and encounters. Enjoy!

The Festival de Cannes has been celebrating cinema for more than 70 years. Over the years, the Association Française du Festival International du Film has been able to change whilst keeping the essence of the Festival: a passion for cinema, the discovery of new talent and the enthusiasm of festival goers and professionals from the whole world who come to contribute to the making and distribution of films.

The 72th Festival de Cannes will take place from Tuesday, 14th May to Saturday, 25th May 2019. It will start one day earlier than in previous years, but will run for exactly the same length of time.

The films selected for the Official Selection 2019 are:
- The Dead Don't Die de Jim Jarmusch, with Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton (opening)

The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival have chosen Alejandro González Iñarritu to succeed Cate Blanchett as president of the jury.

Lebanese director Nadine Labaki will chair the jury Un certain regard in Cannes.

Édouard Baer will again be emcee at the opening ceremony of the 72nd edition on Tuesday 14 May.
