Best theatrical piece at the 2019 Globes de Cristal awardsThe piece unveils to the general public the pleas that sealed the verdicts of some of the most emblematic legal cases of the last forty years and transforms these unusual texts, full of both the drama and history of French society, into an extraordinary moment of theatre. Immersed in the heart of these exceptional cases like a court jury, the public faces up to one Richard Berry, charismatic and of astonishing conviction: sometimes a civil party, sometimes a defender, male or female, he is obsessed by his subject, marked by the passion for the causes he embraces over the cases.
We are carried away by the intensity of the verbal jousts and the persuasive force of the lawyers, by the technique of the process itself, the ruses and rules of this discipline that resembles both a stage and an arena. A crazily intense show that bears witness to the change in society, but that also underlines the relevance of certain issues across the ages.
