Christmas in Cannes
The Christmas festive period in Cannes is always magical and exceptional, thanks to the many events offered in every district of the town, but also to the workshops and shows dedicated to children.
The little ones will have the chance to meet Father Christmas, and to end the year both big and small will be able to admire the traditional and majestic firework display on the theme of series titles that will be held in the Bay of Cannes at midnight on Monday 31 December.
Just like the end of every year, the Town of Cannes dons splendid illuminations and offers families a multitude of Christmas entertainment.
From 1 December 2018 to 6 January 2019, discover Father Christmas’ Chalet, the Skating Rink, the shows and creative workshops for children, etc. on the 2018 theme of Sweet Treats! Free entry and events.
Cannes, the open-air shopping centre, groups the greatest brands in fashion, luxury and the art of living within a narrow perimeter; the ultimate in choices for filling Father Christmas’ sack with precision, diversity and originality.
The famous Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes will re-deck its façades in lights from Saturday 15 December until Sunday 6 January.

The Christmas Village
From Saturday 1 December to Sunday 6 January 2019 – Allées de la Liberté
This year, the village will comprise 49 chalets on the themes of sweet treats and gastronomy, not forgetting gift ideas, decorations, etc.! Among these, 2 chalets will house the Christmas entertainment, with a Provençal nativity once again this year.
On Saturday 1 December 2018, come to the opening of the Christmas Village and the Christmas Lights switch on, with free entry to the ice rink from 20:00 to 22:00!

The stage will be set at the music booth, following the sweet treats theme. Comprising automatons, gingerbread men, barley sugars and giant lollipops, it will delight those of you with a sweet tooth!

Free creative workshops for children – Christmas Village
Wednesdays 5, 12 and 19 December 2018, then every day from 25 December 2018 to 6 January 2019 from 14:00 to 18:00.

The skating rink
The 400 m² natural ice rink will be open every day from Saturday 1 December 2018 to Sunday 6 January 2019 – Allées de la Liberté
Free in the mornings from 10:00 to 13:00 for children aged 4 to 10 only, with lessons from an instructor. (skates, sled chair and penguin slider rental).
€3 for accompanying adults. Instructors present for introductions to ice hockey and figure skating.
From 13:00, the skating rink is open to all – 1-hour sessions. €3 per person (including equipment rental).
Open from Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 21:00. Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00

Meet Father Christmas
Father Christmas welcomes children and their parents in his chalet in the Allées de la Liberté. Saturday 16, Sunday 17, Wednesday 20, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 December 2017 from 14:00 to 18:00.
Comprising 50 food stalls, rides and various games: toboggan, mini car-circuit, haunted house, shooting gallery, tombola, etc. Head for the funfair on the Esplanade de la Pantiero

Giant Nativity and world nativities
Notre-Dame d’Espérance church: Cannes natives and visitors alike can (re)discover the giant animated and musical nativity at the Notre-Dame d’Espérance church.

Saint-Cassien Chapel: Butte de Saint-Cassien, 269 Avenue Francis Tonner, Cannes La Bocca. The Friends of Saint-Cassien chapel invite you to discover the nativity exhibition, in partnership with the parish of Saint-Vincent de Lérins.
Exhibition: Sundays 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 December 2018: from 14:00 to 17:00
Blessing of nativity figures: Sunday 16 December 2018: 16:00
Christmas village nativity – from 01/12/20018 to 06/01/2019: Provençal Nativity scene in a chalet opposite the entrance to the Christmas Village, on the Allées de la Liberté. Original nativity retelling life in Provence, designed and created by Patrick Volpes, master craftsman of nativity figures. 180 veritable nativity figures from Provence, handmade and hand-painted in line with Provençal tradition.
Christmas in the Districts
Christmas in République, Wednesday 26 December 2018 from 14:00 to 16:00 – Salle des Mutilés (45 Rue Mimont).
Children can take part in creative workshops: puppets, candlesticks, Christmas baubles, Christmas Cards, etc.
16:00: interactive show “Paf and the Christmas sleigh” with circus acts (juggling, equilibristics, acrobatics, etc.) and a magic show. Followed by tea and biscuits offered by AMIREAN (retailers’ association). Free entry within the limit of available seats.
New for 2018: broadcast in the Boulevard de la République on Monday 24 December 2018.
New for 2018 in the districts
Illuminated decorations in Square Barthélémy, colourful artistic projection by Gaspare di Caro on the Sainte-Marguerite church in Cannes La Bocca.
The squares and three roundabouts at the entrance to the town will display 3D decorations based on cinema.
Events in Rue d’Antibes
Rue d’Antibes will be pedestrianized every Sunday in December so you can do your Christmas shopping!
Sundays 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 December 2018 and Mondays 24 and 31 December 2018 from 14:00 to 18:00
Music and Christmas songs will also be broadcast in Rue d’Antibes on Saturdays 1, 8, 15 and Sunday 2, 9, 16 December 2018, then every day during the school holidays from 22 December 2018 to 6 January 2019 from 14:00 to 18:00.
Monday 24 December 2018 at 15:00 Father Christmas’ Grand Parade on the theme of sweet treats, comprising two barley sugar wading birds, two acrobatic elves, two of Father Christmas’ soldiers, two gingerbread men, two teddy bears, a snowman, one of father Christmas’ reindeer and two of father Christmas’ fairies giving out balloons, plus one Father Christmas.
New: Broadcasts in Rue Meynadier in December on Saturdays 1, 8, 15 December 2018 and Sundays 2, 9 and 16 December 2018, then from 22 December 2018 to 6 January 2019 from 14:00 to 19:00.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Bay of Cannes
At midnight on Monday 31 December
New Year Fireworks paying homage to our World Champions, the Blues, who touched the sky by going and landing a second star.
While the fireworks will burst their colours across the skies as of midnight, from 23:00 Cannes natives and visitors can enjoy the film devoted to sport in general and football in particular.
